Tami Curtis
About
Tami Curtis is a dynamic and innovative artist known for her distinctive approach to mixed media, combining a variety of unconventional materials with bold, expressive color.
Her spontaneous brushwork immediately captures the viewer’s attention, while her incorporation of richly textured fabrics and vintage architectural elements, often salvaged from the New Orleans area, adds a unique dimension to her work. Each piece reflects a deep connection to the vibrant culture, history, music, and natural beauty of Louisiana, themes she has explored and celebrated throughout her life.
Tami’s artwork has been featured in galleries across Southern Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Illinois, and Alabama, with collectors nationwide, from New York to California. A Louisiana native, she holds a BA in Art Education and a BFA in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech University. Her extensive career includes roles as an art educator in both public and private schools, the Education Coordinator at the New Orleans Museum of Art, and the owner of multiple art-based businesses.
Currently residing in New Orleans, Tami continues to create while finding inspiration in her surroundings. Her three adult children are also pursuing creative and technical fields, including art, engineering, culinary arts, and music.
Tami credits her faith for the inspiration behind her art. "All the time, energy, and inspiration in my artwork are blessings from God. Art itself is a mirror of God's gifts of family, friends, nature, and culture. I thank Him for this journey and joyously give Him the credit for what I create."
